Meru County Approves 2026 Development Agenda, Shifts Focus To Delivery

The Meru County Government has approved a focused development agenda for 2026 following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Rev. Isaac Mutuma M’Ethingia. The resolutions prioritize industrial growth, agricultural productivity, reliable health services, social inclusion and infrastructure delivery, with key programs rolling out from January 2026.
INDUSTRIALIZATION: CAIPS
Cabinet approved the operationalization of the Meru County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPS) policy to drive value addition, create jobs, attract investment and open structured markets for local produce.
HEALTH SERVICES
All county health facilities will remain fully operational during the festive season to ensure uninterrupted emergency and routine care.
AGRICULTURE
The county has subsidized sexed semen to Ksh 1,400 from Ksh 8,000 to enhance dairy productivity. In addition, a countywide livestock vaccination campaign against Anthrax, Rabies, and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is ongoing and will continue in the coming months to protect livestock and secure farmer incomes.
SOCIAL INCLUSION
Cabinet approved seed capital for the Meru County PWD Sacco, expanding access to affordable credit for Persons with Disabilities.
INFRASTRUCTURE AND LAND
The county has reclaimed 68 acres of public land in Timau for public use. 2025/2026 road works will resume in January 2026 across all wards.
CULTURE AND YOUTH
The Governor’s Cup returns in January 2026, followed by the Meru County Cultural Festivals in February 2026 to promote youth talent and preserve Ameru heritage.
The resolutions underscore a clear shift from planning to execution, positioning 2026 as a year of measurable delivery for Meru County.
