Governor Mutuma MEthingia Reviews World Bank Supported Urban Roads & Livelihoods Project In Meru.

H.E. Governor Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia chaired a high-level multisectoral meeting with the World Bank, Community Road Empowerment (CORE), and the Ministry of Roads and Transport to assess the remarkable impact of the Improved Livelihood Opportunities and Accessibility for Underserved Urban Communities Project in Meru County, as it approaches completion.

Implemented by CORE, the initiative focused on rehabilitating 27.15 kilometers of roads using Do-Nou technology in Mjini, Majengo, and Gitimbine, significantly enhancing accessibility and mobility for residents.

Beyond infrastructure development, the project has empowered local communities by training 1,250 members and facilitating the registration of 50 youth-led SMEs. These efforts have created sustainable livelihoods, opened new economic opportunities, and restored hope for a brighter future.

The County Government, under the leadership of H.E. Governor Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia, remains fully committed to sustaining and scaling up this initiative by supporting trained youth to construct and maintain additional roads, while creating employment opportunities for more young people across Meru County.
