HEALTH IS THE PRIORITY: H.E GOVERNOR REV. MUTUMA M'ETHINGIA DEVELOPS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU) WITH AMREF HEALTH AFRICA.

Meru county governor H.E REV. MUTUMA M'ETHINGIA ADMINISTRATION is working closely with Amref Health Africa to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening community health services under the Primary Healthcare Policy. Our partnership seeks to build capacity in healthcare leadership and governance, digitize health systems through user training, establish and operationalize Primary Care Networks, enhance the implementation of critical health programs, establishment of a Mental Wellness Centre, among others.

We appreciate AMREF’s commitment to Meru County, especially through ongoing projects such as the Ksh. 62 million oxygen project. AMREF’s five strategic and innovative initiatives are well aligned with both county and national health priorities. Their support is instrumental as we work to improve service delivery, particularly for vulnerable populations, including cancer patients. The upcoming MoU will formalize and deepen this collaboration, ensuring continued progress in delivering quality healthcare.

During the meeting, AMREF's Deputy Country Director, Mr. Gilbert Wangalwa, emphasized the importance of redesigning Kenya's primary healthcare systems for greater efficiency, especially in light of donor dependency.

The meeting was attended by my Deputy Governor H.E. Hon. Lindah Kiome, CECM for Health Services Dr. Dennis Mugambi, Chief Officer Health Services Dr. Joseph Wahome, County Director of Health Dr. Koome Muthuri, and AMREF Strategic Partnerships Manager, Ms. Rovinnah Maureen Mutwiri, among others.
