MERU GOVERNOR HOSTS SHOFCO TEAM TO SIGN MOU FOR TRANSFORMATIONAL PROJECTS IN MERU

The Meru Governor, Hon. Mutuma M'ethingia, hosted the team from Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), led by CEO Dr. Kennedy Odede, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at building safe shelters, expanding access to education, and improving healthcare services, especially cancer care. SHOFCO has pledged to make Meru a model for their success, with significant impact already seen through the support of 760 students to TVET colleges, including Nkabune, and apprenticeship training for over 460 youth, many of whom have started businesses. SHOFCO’s network of 15,000 members and 46 staff in Meru has helped address critical issues like youth unemployment, crime, gender-based violence, and teenage pregnancies. The Governor reaffirmed the County Government’s commitment to continuing to allocate resources and strengthen SHOFCO’s impact in Meru. Members of the Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders, Hon. Lucy Mukaria, Hon. Gacheri Muthuri from the County Assembly, and County Government officials also attended the event.
