Governor Kawira Mwangaza Advances Education And Agriculture Initiatives In Igembe.
Education Support: Governor Kawira Mwangaza has disbursed Ksh20 million from the Meru County Scholarship Fund to empower local students. On day three of the disbursement, she allocated Ksh6 million to 300 beneficiaries across Igembe Central, Igembe South, and Igembe North Sub-counties. Secondary school students received Ksh10,000 each, while college and university students were granted Ksh30,000 each in scholarships. This initiative complements recent bursaries and aims to support students until the completion of their education.
Enhancing Vocational Training: In a bid to bolster the teaching of Motor Vehicle Technology and facilitate curriculum implementation at Vocational Training Centers (VTCs), Governor Mwangaza provided essential equipment to several institutions:
- Ithima VTC in Akirangondu ward received 2 engines and 1 gearbox.
- Maua VTC in Antubochiu ward also received 2 engines.
- Thitha VTC in Athiru Ruujine ward was supplied with 1 engine.
Emergency Locust Response Project (ELRP): Under the Emergency Locust Response Project, Governor Mwangaza allocated Ksh2,249,625 to 9 groups from Kangeta ward. This funding aims to enhance farming practices related to indigenous chicken, green grams, and sorghum value chains. Additionally, to boost local capacity, Kangeta Poultry and Grain Farmers Cooperative Society LTD, Upendo Kauma Poultry Women Group, and Kaani ka Rui Poultry Farmers received incubators capable of hatching 1,000 eggs every 21 days.
