Coffee among other crops is one of the main exports from the Mt. Kenya region. Meru County boasts of having the best coffee produce in the country from small and large scale farmers like the famous Charles Mutwiri Mkarimu. This is why our county was chosen to host the Coffee Reforms Conference chaired by the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Hon. Rigathi Gachagua.

The Coffee Stakeholders Meeting was held to discuss obstacles hindering the progress of the sub-sector and providing practicable solutions to ensure its success. The meeting’s main agenda was to come up with and discuss recommendations aimed at sustenance of farming the crop largely renowned as the ‘Black Gold’.

H.E. Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza is committed to tendering her support to the Kenya Kwanza Government in working towards a brighter future for the coffee industry where production is increased and economic prosperity fostered.
