Tree Planting Exercise At Gaatia Abogeta East

As part of the ongoing water catchment rehabilitation program under the county's department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Director Elijah Kobia led residents of Gaatia in Abogeta East today in a tree planting exercise around the swamp.
The move comes after the department kicked off a rehabilitation program for Nchuura Hills, which will see the Gaatia Self-Help Group plant over 100 trees around the over 3-acre county-owned land.
Currently, with over 10 water catchment areas rehabilitated so far, Meru’s journey towards a green future is slowly taking shape as the department plans to work with farmers and self-help groups in planting over 5 million fruit trees over the next 5 years.
